Molly Malone aka "Cockles and Mussels" or "In Dublin's Fair City" is Dublin's unofficial anthem. There are many legends regarding a young woman who worked on the Dublin streets, but no evidence that the song is based on a real woman. In 1988 the Dublin Millennium Commission claimed a real woman named Mary Malone died June 13, 1699 and proclaimed June 13th, "Molly Malone day".
