Rudolf Walter Richard Heß (Hess) 4/26/1894 – 8/17/1987 was Deputy Führer to Adolf Hitler in 1933. He served in the position until 1941 when he flew solo to Scotland in an attempt to negotiate peace with Britain. Hess piloted a Messerschmitt Bf 110 on May 10, 1941 to Scotland were he parachuted and landed near Floors Farm near Eaglesham, Scotland.
News of the defection spread quick and the German's quickly labeled Hess a madman.
