The Filmore is a historic music venue that was built in 1912. It is best known for its shows in the 1960's and 70's. Acts like: The Grateful Dead, The Steve Miller Band, Jefferson Airplane, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Byrds, Santana, Frank Zappa's The Mothers of Invention, The Allman Brothers Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd all performing at the venue. Besides rock, the Filmore also featured non-rock acts such as B.B. King, Lenny Bruce, Miles Davis, Aretha Franklin, and Otis Redding as well as poetry readings.
