On Tuesday 1st August 2023, Newton PY4NF, a radio amateur from Brazil, reached the summit of Alto da Boa Vista and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 11 contacts in total working on the 15m amateur radio band.
The summit of Alto da Boa Vista is 1558 metres (5112 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
