On Friday 22nd March 2024 at 11:47 UTC, Markus HB9DIZ, a radio amateur from Switzerland made contact with Armin HB9/DL6GCA/P, a radio amateur from Germany who was operating from Belchen-Passwang Natural Monuments, BL Part (HBFF-0430) on the 10m amateur radio band.
Armin was at the summit of Ruchen (1123m asl) which is inside the reserve. While at the summit he made 51 contacts in total for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
Belchen-Passwang Natural Monuments, BL Part (HBFF-0430), is a protected area of 6,493.45 hectares lying north-west of the town of Olten in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. It has reference number 1012 on the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments maintained by the Federal Office for the Environment. The Belchen-Passwang area has unique features and is rich in natural beauty which are deserving of preservation.
