On Friday 22nd March 2024 at 17:34 UTC, Markus HB9DIZ, a radio amateur from Switzerland made contact with Jean-Pierre HB9HBV/P, a radio amateur from Switzerland who was operating from the Schanz-Walten Forest Reserves (BL)(HBFF-0540) on the 40m amateur radio band.
Jean-Pierre was at the summit of Walten (913m asl) which is inside the reserve. While at the summit he made 23 contact in total for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
Schanz-Walten Forest Reserves (BL)(HBFF-0540), is a Forest Reserve of 65.3 hectares lying southeast of Basel in Switzerland. It has reference number 160_BL_85 on the Inventory of Forest Reserves maintained by the Federal Office for the Environment.
