Bellot Memorial

Bellot Memorial (StreetView)
This red, granite memorial was erected as a memorial to Joseph Rene Bellot who perished whilst searching for Sir John Franklin in the Arctic where nothing had been heard of him for two years. The British nation had taken to Bellot and £2000 was raised of which £500 was spent on the memorial and the remainder went to support Bellot's sisters.
