Blackhorse Street in Bolton was named for the Black Horse Hotel in 1782.
The Hotel formerly stood on the eastern side of the street roughly where Cheadle Square Gardens are today.
The Blackhorse Street was formerly known as Thweat Street which named for James Thweat (aka James Thweatt) who was responsible for opening one of the first cotton mills in the town.
