On Saturday 17th June 2023, Kyou JJ1HWM/1, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Bunoudake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 12 contacts in total working on the 23cm 70cm and 2m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Bunoudake is 1759 metres (5771 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
The summit of Bunoudake is in the Gunma Prefecture on Honshu Island.
