Ferryways started operations in 2000 and, having quickly become a major player in the short-sea market, is now the leading Belgian market ferry operator. The company’s success and consistent growth year-on-year has been based on a simple principle: to provide a quality service at a competitive price.
Ferryways offers frequent sailings between its hub in the Belgian port of Ostend and the British ports of Ipswich and Tilbury in the south and Immingham in the north. There are presently three sailings per day between Ostend and Ipswich, two sailings per day between Ostend and Tilbury, and one sailing per day between Ostend and Immingham with a reduced service at weekends.
All routes are equally suited to unaccompanied and driver-accompanied traffic. Drivers are offered complimentary full meals and drinks, the use of a cabin in which to sleep or rest, and shower facilities. They arrive at the port suitably rested and refreshed and able to continue on the next leg of their journey. Arrival procedures are dealt with quickly and efficiently, whereupon drivers can then join the excellent local transport infrastructure with the minimum of delay.
Ferryways accepts all types of wheeled cargo including out-of-gauge units. The company also accepts all types of hazardous cargo subject to the usual restrictions and advance notice. Furthermore, Ferryways caters for unit loads such as containers and palletized units which are loaded at the terminal on flat-bed trailers for shipment.
