On Thursday 15th December 2022, Ron NR3E, Virgil KJ4ADS and Dennis N4DD, three US radio amateurs reached the summit of Flattop Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
They made 64 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 60, 40, 20, 17 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Flattop Mountain is 1380 metres (4528 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
