Fort Sam Houston is one of seven major military areas around San Antonio, and consists of a 3,200 acre main base, and the 28,000 acre Camp Bullis range area, 20 miles northwest of San Antonio. The main base is a major medical and medical training center for the Army, and is the cantonment area for the fort. The base employs around 15,000 people.
