If you look at the fort in BEV it has been restored, the overgrowth has been peeled back and the central court has been rebuilt.

The fortress was built in the 17th century, on order of the cardinal of Richelieu. It was here that Mazarin imprison the princes , Longueville, Conti and Condé. At the end of the 18th century, the citadel was abandoned and was only used as simple barracks.
