It appears that the wreckage from those homes are strewn about the neighboring area. You can clearly see piles of debris a couple blocks from the levee breach.

This is the Ninth Ward in New Orleans. I visited there several months after Katrina and the destruction was much worse then. Looks like they cleared out some but not all of the displaced homes.
