1932 the Danish silversmith and toymaker Kay Bojesen opened his shop and workshop in in this cellar until his death in 1958.

Kay Bojesen made figures and toys of wood which today still are sold worldwide.

His most famous is the wooden monkey from 1951 and the Royal Guards from 1940 honoring the Danish King Christian X to his 70th. birthday. He also made furniture for children, jewellery and housewares.

The last figure he made was one of a Danish mail man in 1958 to honor their work.

The monkey is the only one still being made in a factory in Denmark. All other figures are made in Asia.

Today you can still buy his designs, also in this souvenir shop there is there today on the site.
