On Tuesday 27th September 2022, a group of French radio amateurs using the callsign TM2SOTA reached the summit of Mont Pierre Châtel activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group. The special callsign “TM2SOTA” was being used to mark the occasion of the 15th anniversary of SOTA.
They made 94 contacts in total working on the 60, 40, 30, 20, 17 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Mont Pierre Châtel is 2774 metres (9101 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
