On Sunday 16th October 2022, Peter VE6FPV, a radio amateur from Calgary. AB reached the summit of Mount Athabasca and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 8 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.
The summit of Mount Athabasca is 3442 metres (7438 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
