On Sunday 18th June 2023, Stuart VK7FADZ, a radio amateur from the state of Tasmania reached the summit of Mount Field West and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 15 contacts in total working on the 40m amateur radio band.
The summit of Mount Field West is 1434 metres (4705 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
