On Saturday 30th March 2024 at 10:58 UTC, Eddy ON3EA, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Dietmar DL2HWI/P, a radio amateur from Germany, who was operating from Nature Park Bayerischer Wald (DLFF-0043), on the 40m amateur radio band.
Nature Park Bayerischer Wald (DLFF-0043)[Bavarian Forest Nature Park], covers an area of 231,167 hectares lying north of the River Danube to the border with the Czech Republic, south-east Germany. It was first established in 1967 and in 2001 it was designated as a Landscape Protection Area which is an IUCN Management Category V area.
An IUCN Management Category V area is a lived-in working landscape, where the interaction of people with the natural landscape has resulted in a landscape with significant biological, ecological and scenic value.
