Fort Brockhurst, built 1858-62 is one of the line of five forts built to defend the Western approaches to Portsmouth Harbour. It was in various uses by the army until 1957. It was sold in 1962 and English Heritage acquired it in 1984. It now houses a museum, workshops and training facility for the English Heritage Craftsmen.
