On Friday 15th July 2022 Manuel HB0DQM/P a radio amateur Switzerland reached the summit of Pizzo del Ghaiccaio di Sasso Nero and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 43 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 40. 30 and 20 amateur radio bands.
The summit of Pizzo del Ghaiccaio di Sasso Nero is 2842 metres (9324 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
