Widely reported as a prison riot at Apodaca Prison near Monterrey, this was a planned massacre of Gulf Cartel prisoners by members of the notorious Zeta gang. This was carried out by the Zetas in part to provide a window of opportunity for an escape by dozens of Zeta members during the ensuing confusion.
