On Saturday 9th September 2023, Colm EI9KY/P, a radio amateur from Waterford, Ireland reached the summit of Purple Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 16 contacts in total working on the 40m and 20m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Purple Mountain is 832 metres (2730 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
