On Monday 19th September 2022, Andy N4LAG, a radio amateur from Asheville, NC reached the summit of Rough Butt Bald and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 47 contacts in total working on the 80, 40, 20, 17 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Rough Butt Bald is 1811 metres (5942 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
