On Friday 8th July 2022 Mike KE5AKL a radio amateur from Albuquerque, NM reached the summit of South Baldy and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 25 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.
The summit of South Baldy is 3287 metres (10784 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
South Baldy at 3287 metres (10784 feet) asl, is the highest point in the Magdelena Mountains.
