On 26 JUL 1956, Italian oceanliner, SS Andrea Doria, capsized and sank after colliding with the MS Stockholm. The ship's ill-fated sailing consisted of 190 first class passengers, 267 cabin class passengers and 677 tourist class passengers, which along with her crew of 572 came to a total of 1,706 people aboard. Believed to be a result of the ship listing to the port side, incapacitating many of it's lifeboats, 46 passengers died.
