Vizcaya Bridge

Vizcaya Bridge (StreetView)
The Vizcaya Bridge (Bizkaiko Zubia / Puente de Vizcaya) is a transporter bridge that links Portugalete and Las Arenas in the Biscay province of Spain, crossing the mouth of the Nervion River.

On 7/13/06, the bridge was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's the only monument in Spain in the Industrial Heritage category. UNESCO considers the bridge to be a perfect combination of beauty and functionality. It was the first to use iron technology and new steel cables, beginning a new form of constructing bridges, later imitated throughout the world.
