Always privately owned, the short ferry crossing between Hunter’s Quay (Dunoon) and McInroy’s Point (Gourock) was started in 1973 by Western Ferries (Argyll) Ltd.

Change of ownership in 1985 saw the birth of Western Ferries (Clyde) Ltd.

At present we use a fleet of 4 vessels on the route, giving us a carrying capacity (in each direction) of approximately 140 cars per hour.

The service operates every day of the year including Christmas and New Year. So with no prior booking, a 20 minute crossing and up to 4 ferries per hour…
