On Thursday 14th July 2022 Nick KI5MFF a radio amateur from Belen, NM reached the summit of Willow Mountain and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 16 contacts in total working on the 40, 20 and 17 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Willow Mountain is 3287 metres (10784 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
