This 85 feet tall Norway Spruce was chosen to be displayed as the official Christmas Tree in New York's Rockefeller Center in 2014. It was spotted by event organizers alongside Interstate Highway 80, 155 miles west of Manhattan.
It belonged to Dan Sigafoos and Rachel Drosdick-Sigafoos. It was planted in 1915. The tree was cut down on November 5 and will have a lighting ceremony on December 3.
