Description:Isle Royale National Park provides recreational activities for roughly 17,000 visitors a year and serves as a natural laboratory for researchers investigating topics ranging from air pollution to wetland ecology. Visitation is limited to the months between April and November, due to heavy snowfall on the main island and dangerous storms on Lake Superior. The Isle Royale Archipelago has been designated as wilderness, and is part of the International Biosphere Reserve System.
