Knowe of Yarso

Knowe of Yarso, located in Frotoft, Rousay, is a former burial place for a Neolithic farming community who lived in the area over 4,500 years ago.

It contains a narrow passage, through which you gain access to the inner chamber.

Excavation of Yarso found the bodies of at least 21 people, as well as many flint and bone tools and deer bones.

To reach this cairn, visitors must first complete an enjoyable half a mile, uphill walk.
Walking boots are recommended.
