Description:All along the old silk road there were set up a chain of Caravanserai, literally caravan parks which catered for the trains of camels laden with all types of exotic goods from China in the east and destined for the rich European countries in the west. A place for shelter, refreshment and local employment they were then an intergral part of the land transport system
