Uruk was an ancient city of Sumer and later Babylonia, situated east of the present bed of the Euphrates river, on the ancient dry former channel of the Euphrates River, some 30 km east of modern As-Samawah, Al-Muthannā, Iraq.

On google earth there is a vast area to the east and north of uruk, that you can't zoom in to at all. Why is this? Everywhere else you can get a rally good view of ancient remains.. so you can see what the satellites see, only it is censored? Why?
