Argentinian aircraft carrier Veinticinco De Mayo waiting for scrapping at Alang beach. She was originally built for Royal Navy as Colossus class light fleet carrier HMS Venerable being laid down 3. December 1942, launched 30. December 1943 and completed 17. January 1945. She was acquired by the Royal Dutch Navy in 1948 and served until 1968 when she was damaged by boiler-room fire. In 1969 she was refitted and sold to Argentina as Veinticinco De Mayo. In 2000 she was retired and towed to Alang to be scrapped. |
