Henry Tandey (1891–1977) was a British soldier during WW1. He became famous for being the most decorated private soldier during war.
He also became famous for having saved a German soldier at the French village of Marcoing, Adolf Hitler, but it's more in dispute. Only Hitler recognized him on a painting at the meeting with Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in 1938.
A Blue Plaque on the house remembers him.
