This is the approximate location of where the DC-9 carrying 64 people crashed into a residential neighborhood after a mid air collision on August 31st, 1986. The other aircraft, a Piper Archer carrying 3 people who died on impact crashed into a field at nearby Cerritos Elementary School. The accident killed an additional 15 people on the ground.
