On Wednesday 20th September 2023, Timothy K5DEZ, Don KG5ISG & George WB5USB, a group of radio amateurs from New Mexico, reached the summit of Cerro Picacho and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
They made 62 contacts in total working on the 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m and 12m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Cerro Picacho is 3136 metres (10289 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
