On Thursday 7th September 2023, John K1JD & Frederick W5YA, two radio amateurs from Santa Fe, NM reached the summit of Cuchillo de Fernando and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
They made 38 contacts in total working on the 30m, 20m and 17m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Cuchillo de Fernando is 3473 metres (11394 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
