According to the Mississippi Blues sign the club was one of the south's most important African American nightclubs. the club was built after World War II and showcased talent like: Ray Charles, Count Basie, B.B. King, Bobby Bland, Little Milton and Albert King. B.B. King purchased the club to keep the clubs tradition alive.
