Cropmark of Roman Fort

In a field in the English parish of Saham Toney are the cropmarks of a 2nd century AD Roman fort. The fort was discovered in aerial photographs during a hot summer in 1996 and this enabled the identification of cropmarks of a second later fort straddling the Peddar's Way where it crosses the stream. Traces of roads and structures within the large fort can also be seen on aerial photographs.

The cropmarks are also clearly visible on Google Earth. The cropmarks stretch across four different fields and a small country road goes along the bottom of the inside of the fort.
