Gunnar "Nu" Hansen (StreetView)
Gunnar "Nu" Hansen (20. oktober 1905 - 5. januar 1993) was a legend and icon for all danish sports journalists and broadcasters.

He worked for 41 years at the Danish National TV (DR) until 1976. His first event he broadcasted was the Olympic Games in Berlin and Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936. He was also awarded the Olympic Order in Bronce in 1976. 1983 he was knighted in Denmark (Ridder af Dannebrog).

Also the sinking of the ship Flying Enterprise 1951 and the resccue of the crew, lead by Dan ish-American Captain Kurt Carlsen, he broadcasted hourly and also live.

But his life was football/soccer which he broadcasted in radio and TV. He got his nickname "Nu" (now) because halways said Nu when something happened. First time he said so was at the Berlin Olympics.

In the good old days football matches weren't broadcasted live, they were sent out a few hours later. 1976, just before his retirement, he broadcasted an annual match against Sweden. For the first time Denmark won in 39 years on a Swedish stadium, Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg. Denmark won 2-1.

Because he knew the result and was so happy the first he did was to tell the result. He didn't become popular that day.

As the only journalist he was inducted into Danish sports Hall of Fame in 1993 as the 11. inducty.

1984 her performed a support song, rapping a song "Rap Nu" as support to the Danish football team at the European Championship, Denmark came to the semi-finals and lost 5-4 in penalty after 1-1 after 90 minutes. Today it's still very popular as then.
