On Friday 4th August 2023, Jeremy NJ6Q, a radio amateur from Encintas, CA reached the summit of Kern Peak and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 10 contacts in total working on the 20m amateur radio band.
The summit of Kern Peak is 3505 metres (11499 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
