On Friday 19th August 2022, Yuki JF1NDT/0 a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Kitayokodake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 30 contacts in total working on the 2 metre amateurVHF and the 40, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 HF radio bands.
The summit of Kitayokodake is 2480 metres (8136 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
