On Thursday 11th August 2022, Satoru JJ1RUI and Toru JA1CTV/1 two radio amateurs from Japan reached the summit of Kumotoriyama and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
They made 102 contacts in total working on the 2 and 6 metre VHF and the 40, 20, 17, 15 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit Kumotoriyama is 2017 metres (6617 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
