On Sunday 27th November 2022, Minoru JL1NIE/1, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Sakariyama and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 31 contacts in total working on the 70cm UHF and the 40, 20, 17 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Sakariyama is 1541 metres (5056 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.

Sakariyama is in the Yamanashi Prefecture on Honshu Island.
