'Monument for Strangers and Refugees' by Olu Oguibe

A monumental obelisk created for Documenta 14 with the biblical phrase, "I was a stranger and you took me in." written in Arabic, German, English, and Turkish.

Germany's vocal right-wing-leaning local politicians felt the monument was overtly political and lobbied for it to be removed as soon as the show was completed but local public pressure forced a compromise to move it to nearby Treppenstrasse.
