A life-sized bronze sculpture of Sir Hall Caine in the Summer Hill Gardens in Douglas is dedicated to the Manx Author, Freeman of Douglas Borough and M.H.K.
Sir Hall Caine was best known in literary circles as a novelist and playwright. At the peak of his fame his novels outsold those of many of his contemporaries.
Among his novels were ‘She’s All The World To Me’ (1885), ‘The Manxman’ (1894) and ‘The Prodigal Son’ (1904)
Several Sir Hall Caine’s works were used as the basis for a series of films between 1911 and 1929.
Sir Hall Caine was a native Manxman having only moved to the Isle of Man in 1894.
