The Boars Head on the Market Place in the town of Leigh has been rated by Camera as a pub with a 1 star pub interior of special national historic interest.
In 1900 the local brewery rebuilt the Boars Head in red brick and terracotta to an eclectic Baroque style.
The interior has been subject to some opening-out and unfavourable alterations but there are many features which are true to the original, such as fireplaces, bell-pushes and a bar-back.
The fine staircase retains its green tiled dado as does the bar-hall area.
