Supposed location where Nando and Roberto of the crashed Uruguayan Flight 571 were found in 1972 by local huaso Sergio Catalan after 9 days of trekking through the Andes Mountains. Nando and Roberto started their journey from the crash site with little food and no equipment, except for a sleeping bag.

The two men supposedly hiked 33 hard miles over the 9 days before they were found by Catalan on the banks of the Rio Azufre, but when you look at where the 1972 crash site is and where this location is, the distance they covered seems like it's closer to 20 miles than 33.

The Flight 571 crash location lies east of the rescue location. It is northeast of the Volcano Tinguiririca.
